New Chassis Stabilizer From Alloy Art, Tech Tip

New Chassis Stabilizer From Alloy Art For Baker Touring Oil Bags Photos and Text by Rogue
The popularity of chassis stabilizers for Harley-Davidson motorcycles with rubber mounted engines has increased greatly and there are now numerous companies making them. Most are much the same design and they work well.
There is one New and Different Style stabilizer out as well and it is made by Alloy Art.

It uses three (3) heim joins as opposed to one (1) on most of the other models.
It also uses a bushing intermediate member with an adjustable arm so that ride performance can be adjusted, something that is not offered on other stabilizers.
I recently installed a Baker Plus 1 oil tank on my FLHT and it had a center mounting boss for a stabilizer.
The True-Track stabilizer I previously had been using for the stock application would no longer work, without major machine shop work. Baker suggested using this one.
I started by installing the two flange nuts into the frame crossmember, put blue thread locker on the flathead allen screws and installed the crossmember.
Installed the stabilizer to the crossmember using the provided 3/8 bolts and adjusting so there will be no binding of the ball joints.
I adjusted the front heim joint so that the bushing tension arm was centered in the intermediate member.
That was it, installation was easy and quick and I got to really try it out on my ride to Sturgis from Florida as well as on the canyon roads in the hills when I arrived.
I am very happy with the way it worked and a bonus is that it looks good as well.
Installation is quick and easy using basic hand tools. For those using stock oil tanks they also make a model to fit them.

Rogue appears to be comfortable with this stabilizer.

Senator Dave Zien

Help Dave Zien's Family Info from Tony Pan - I know many of you are thinking of how to help Dave Zien out in this time of need. I spoke to his brother today and the family has set up a foundation to help offset expenses for lodging, food and travel. Dave would really appreciate help for his family members. To Dave, family is everything. Vicki and I have received many inquiries on how people can help out. The hospital requests that you not call there because he cannot talk to you and it's hard on hospital staff to field all those calls. Also, flowers cannot be placed in the ICU so that's a waste too. Dave's children and other family members have been down there since the accident and with Spring Break going on, everything is very costly. Any help to offset the expenses for the family would be greatly appreciated. You can donate to: Get Well Foundation for Dave Zien,
#5284063483, 2910 Mall Drive, Eau Claire, WI 54701
. This foundation is set up to accept donations to help Dave's family out. Please share this informaiton with your lists and thanks for anything you can do.

Bolt and the Helmet law

bolt logo
For years, people have been complaining about motorcycle helmets and about mandatory helmet laws, and for years, the government has not listened. They continue to force helmets onto riders heads whether they like it or not.
It is time to COMPLAIN LOUDLY and OFTEN.

Here’s how:

The government has a computer system where you should all be filing our complaints. It is relatively unused. After several years, there are only about 20 complaints on file.
Let the government know every complaint you have about helmets. Let them know how you do not like to be forced to wear helmets. If you feel strongly about this you must complain loudly and often, or else they will think you are complacent.

If you are fed up with helmets and mandatory helmet laws, and are ready to file a complaint right now, visit the NHTSA ODI Complaint Site at
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov

Visit Bikers of Lesser Tolerance (B.O.L.T.) for more information.

This action is inspired by freedom fighters everywhere, such as Richard “Quig” Quigley, who used to call and complain to the NHTSA almost every day, even after his living wake, and right up until the day he died of lymphoma in 2007. Other freedom fighters, not just from B.O.L.T. but everywhere, frequently call the NHTSA and their state legislators to complain also. Let’s spread the word to start filing official complaints.
Please help fight for our rights. Civil liberties are important!
Thank you!
Please be sure to pass this message along to everyone you know who rides motorcycles!

FLORIDA STIFFER PENALTIES BILL - http://static.lobbytools.com/bills/2011/pdf/AS06081220.pdf
In Reference to Florida Senate 2011 SB-608

Having dealt with both legislators and unions for many years I will start off by saying I think they are asking for to much and that will give them a point to negotiate to.
Let’s ask for jail time though we know we are not going to get that and then we settle for the money which is what we are really after.
When talking to legislators I am often asked: What is the financial impact on the state? Okay is the state going to make money from this or is it going to cost us money.
Well this bill is all About Making Money for the State of Florida.

If anyone looks at the bills that Evers and Doc Reichenbach (ABATE of Florida) have been involved in that is exactly what has happened, the State of Florida ended up making a lot of money.
When one of the bills pass ABATE always seems to end up getting some kind of grant.
This looks very suspicious to me.
Increasing the fines are what it is really about. Okay add sending offenders to Driver Improvement also makes money for their supporters and the state gets a piece of that through taxes as well.
Since a vehicle is involved suspending driving is in the scope of things. Pay attention to your driving and Not be in a Crash and or Collision or the state is going to order you to stop operating a vehicle for a period of time. Of course this often leads to more arrests, fines and schools as many continue to drive and do get caught.
is Bill Will Do Nothing To Lower Crashes and Collisions or Save Lives!
Aslong as Money Goes To The State and Not The Victim and or Their Families I will be Opposed to This Type Of Legislation.
To prove that I am wrong in thinking this is just about making money I am suggesting that the wording be changed to any fine that is to be imposed the law Must Say The Money Goes To The Victim and or Their Family!
How about adding that the person at fault has to give up 10% of their pay until the injured party and or parties are full compensated and that the money must be taken out of the persons pay Prior To Them Getting It. Any costs involved will also be incurred by the guilty party.
That is the kind of thing that will make people take responsibility for their actions.
